Irritated because of rust on auto parts? Parts Avatar would help you to prevent rust on your car !!

How to Prevent Rust on your Car
Rusting can be a very serious issue for your automobile. The damage caused by rust can ruin various auto parts and then you will also have to compromise with the strength as well as the rigidity of the vehicle’s frame. You must get rid of these issues by taking proper care of your vehicle’s exterior and taking a fast action when the signs of rust begin to appear. The best way to stop rusting to occur on your car is to prevent it from occurring in the first place.
Finding Rust Before it spreads
  1. Inspect your wheel wells and bumpers
The most common trouble spot for rusting in your car are the wheel wells. The people don’t focus on them clearly because they are dirty and difficult for them to see clearly. It is recommended that you should rotate your tires after every 6,000 miles. When you will remove the wheel and rotate it, then use a flashlight to check if there is any rust or not. Spray the area out if you find that there is too much dirt or mud in the wheel well while inspecting for the rust.

  1. Look for signs where body components meet.
If two pieces of metal would meet, then there are a lot of chances that your vehicle would rust. This would happen if there is potential for them to rub together. The main reason behind it is that rubbing would wear away the protection provided by the paint and then rust would be formed. Just walk around your automobile and have a look that where the components would meet such as in the door frame, hood meets the fender and the areas around the trunk. You can open the car doors while inspecting your vehicle for rust. If you find that your paint is being bubbled up, then it means that rust is developing beneath the bubbled up paint.

  1. Inspect the bottom of your vehicle regularly.
Most of the punishment is often taken by the underside of your car and that’s why it is most likely to rust. If you live in an area where it would snow in winters, then salt and other harmful chemicals would be accumulated forming rust beneath your car. You should always check your car during oil changes. Keep this thing in mind that you should never climb under your vehicle without using jack stands.

  1. Don’t allow water to sit in or on the vehicle.
Your car is painted properly, clear coats are made, and plastic trim pieces are all intended to protect the metal on your vehicle from rusting. But with the passage of time, these forms can lose their power and it would thus lead to rusting. If your car or truck leaks and gathers water around, then there must be drains that would allow the water to pour out. Consult your manual and then try to locate the drain holes if the water does not drain. Remove whatever is blocking out the way so that the water can drain out easily.

Washing your vehicle to prevent Rust
  1. Wash your vehicle regularly
The dirt alone cannot cause rust, but if the dirt and sediments would keep on collecting over time, then it wear your car paint whenever anyone would touch it. Another thing that could cause rusting is the gasoline spills while filling up the vehicle. So it is advised to wash your vehicle on a regular basis so that the sand as well as the dirt gets rubbed away. Make it a point to wash your vehicle as soon as possible if it comes in contact with paint.

  1. Wash the undercarriage of the vehicle
If the underside of your vehicle has salt and chemical deposits which are caused through snow, then it would definitely lead to rusting. Wash the underside of your vehicle time to time so that these materials don’t get accumulated for long. A lot of automatic car washes allow undercarriage cleaning.

  1. Use baking soda
You can always add some amount of baking soda to the soap and water with which you are going to wash the undercarriage and the wheel wells of your vehicle. Now you are ready to deal with the road salt. The scientific reason behind this is that baking soda would neutralize the acidic effect of the salt and other ice melting chemicals present on the roads. One tablespoon of baking soda is more than enough when you are thinking of cleaning the undercarriage of your vehicle.

Is your Car Filter old and full of dirt? Buy a new one from Parts Avatar.

Old and dirty Car Air Filter? Learn how to replace it with a new one
What does an air filter do?
You engine would only run in the presence of air. The air would mix up with the gas and then the spark plug would give a spark, providing the internal combustion. Your car engine would only run properly and efficiently if the air inside is clean. But the most common problem is that the air which is outside is full of junk, which won’t burn cleanly and evenly. The air is full of dirt particles, pollen, feathers of birds and many more. One thing is for sure that you won’t like any such stuff in your engine.
That’s where you can trust an air filter.
This auto part is connected to the engine. Most of the car filters are rectangular in shape and are made up of a paper like material. Here, have a look at one:

The major function of a car filter is to prevent dust and other dirt particles from entering your engine and allowing clean and fresh air to pass through it. It is really very simple and effective as well.
Why is there a need to change the air filter regularly?
You must change your air filter regularly because of the following reasons:-
  1. Increased fuel efficiency
When you have covered thousands of miles in your car, then your car filter can get really dirty as well as clogged. If your air filter is dirty, then no air would be allowed to enter through the engine. Don’t forget that your car engine needs air so that it can run efficiently. To run the car engine, more amount of fuel is used as there is reduced amount of air. So make sure to change your air filter on a regular basis and save your money at the petrol pump.

Our car engines are big as well as powerful, but at the same time they are extremely sensitive.  Even a small grain of sand can cause a problem. With the passage of time, the dirt and other particles can cause damage to the internal parts of your engine. It would be better if you will spend $10 today than to spend thousands of dollars in future for a new engine.

  1. Reduced emissions
If there is less air flow, then your car emission control system would exhale a lot of harmful stuff into the atmosphere. Save the environment by replacement car parts.

How often should you change your Air Filter?
It is suggested that you must change your air filter once a year. If you live in a dusty place, then get it replaced more frequently. You must check your air filter whenever you get your oil changed. There is no need to go to a car mechanic for getting an air filter replaced. You can do this very easily on your own and can always refer to a manual.

How to change your air filter?
You are aware that air as well as fuel, both are equally important for your car. The inside part of the engine is protected with your air filter and prevents dust and insects from entering inside. You car should run at its best, so replace your air filter accordingly. Follow the steps mentioned below to change your Air Filter:-

  1. Buy the perfect replacement filter
If you need any sort of assistance to find the correct quality of aftermarket auto parts, then you can visit stores like Napa Canada to find the correct filter that would fit in perfectly in your vehicle’s air box. You must make an effort to get the stock filter that comes with your vehicle so that you can get most of the engine life and at the same time your fuel efficiency would increase.

  1. Don’t forget to secure the vehicle
This thing is really very important and you must make it a point to park your car on ground level and should apply a parking brake. Shift your car into the first gear and then turn off your ignition.

  1. Open your car hood
There is a lever inside the car, so release the bonnet. The exterior bonnet catch would finally release. Carefully lift the bonnet of your car and you can even secure it with a prop rod.

  1. Locate your air box
The air box is located near the engine. The cars which are of very old model have air filters under bulky and round cover which is made up of plastic. On the other side, the cars which are latest have a square or rectangular air filter which is found in between the front grille and the engine.

  1. Remove the cover of the Air Filter
The air conduct is sealed with a hose clamp, which should be loosened. Hold the air filter cover and carefully undo all the screws. Some of the car models have nuts and on the other hand some can be released very quickly. Place all the screws and other important parts together safely so that you can find them later easily. Then pull the cover out of the air conduct and if you find any problem, then you can always conduct a mechanic in need.

  1. Take out the air filter
Now once the cover is lifted, then you can see the round and rectangular filter which is made up of cotton or paper. Just lift the filter out of the housing.

  1. Clean the air filter housing
The air hose is then connected to the compressor and is then used to blow out the dust. You can also use a vacuum cleaner to suck the dirt.

  1. Replace the filter
Now you can replace the old and dirty filter with a clean new one. Insert it into the housing with the rubber rim facing up and make sure that all the edges are sealed by the rubber rim.

  1. Replace the cover
Insert the cover back carefully into the original place and then press the entire piece down onto the lower half. It is very important to secure it properly or else it would lower down the engine’s performance. Tighten all the nuts and screws and check that everything is back at its original place or not. Shut the bonnet carefully.

  1. Check the filter
The last thing here is that you must check the filter regularly to keep your car breathing and this would help to increase the efficiency of your car.

If you are willing to replace your old air filter with a new one and want to buy various other aftermarket car parts, then you can always visit to We offer the best quality of products of affordable prices.

Your life is just like a fuse, you got to ignite it to make it beautiful. You won’t be able to re-fuse the car fuses available with

Car Fuses and its various types
What is a Fuse?
Automotive fuses help in protecting the electrical equipment's of your vehicle. There are various fuses present in the market, but the main function of every fuse is the same. This car part has a metallic wire, which is closed in a non combustible material. If more than the specific amount of current passes, then the wire placed inside the fuse would melt as heavy current was flowing through it. Then ultimately the power supply is disconnected.

There are various types of fuses present in the market and they can even be further categorized. Fuses can be divided into two main categories depending upon the input supply of the voltage. They are:-
  1. AC Fuses
  2. DC Fuses
There is not much difference between the two fuses mentioned above. Let us first understand DC fuse system. In this system, the metallic wire melts due to over current. This produces the Arc and one cannot get rid of it because of DC constant value. DC fuse is bigger than the AC fuse in size so that it can minimize the fuse arcing. It is helpful as the distance between the electrodes would increase, thus reducing the arc.

In AC Fuse, it has voltage with 60Hz or 50Hz and its frequency changes from 0 to 60 every second. There is no such problem like DC fuse in this system, so the arc can be extinct effortlessly. That’s why AC Fuses are smaller than DC Fuses.
Fuses can further be categorized as:-
  • One time use
  • Re-settable Fuse
One Time Use only Fuse
These types of fuses contain a metal wire which would burn out as soon as over current passes through it. You would have to substitute these fuses manually. The fuses are inexpensive and are used almost in every electrical system. This type of fuse can be categorized as:-
  • Fuse Current Carrying Capacity
It means that the maximum amount of current which a fuse can carry without breaking the circuit.
  • Breaking Capacity
The maximum value of current that can be interrupted safely by the fuse is known as its breaking capacity.
  • Response Characteristic
More the amount of current flowing through wire more would be the speed at which the fuse would blow. Higher the current, faster would be the response time. Ultra fast fuses are the ones which respond quickly to the over current situation. Semiconductor devices get damaged very easily due to over current, that’s why they are used in them.
Another type of fuse which is very famous is a slow burn fuse. They do not blow away instantly when over current occurs. Instead, they take a few seconds to respond.

Car fuses act as bodyguards in automotive world. Whenever there is any unexpected threaten to the automobile, then it is the fuse which bears this tough situation and throws itself into the field of fire.
Are all the Fuses used in car the same?
All the modern cars posses ATO and ATC blade type fuses. The blade type fuses are available in multiple sizes and have different configurations. One important thing which you should keep in mind is that all of them resemble each other a lot physically. They differ in size and even the numbers of terminals vary.  These exhaust parts which are larger in size can be used for the appliances which generate higher current.
Earlier the vehicles had glass tube fuses and you can still find them in the older models of automobiles on roads. These types of fuses have a glass tube, some metal terminals and have a metal strip on the surface which passes through the center.

Now you know that the fuses which are used in automotive can differ in the basis of size as well as the level of current flowing through them. This means that all the fuses are not the same.
Where can you use Fuses?
  • Auto motives
  • Air-Conditions
  • General electrical appliances
  • Laptops
  • Printers
  • LED monitors
  • Power converters
How Fuses Work in an Automobile?
Have a look how the automotive fuses work step by step. This would be the same for all kinds of vehicles.
Step 1
The circuit is protected from overloading or short circuit with the help of a fuse. The area at which a fuse is located is a vehicle’s power distribution center.
Step 2
There are a number of heavy and light duty fuses present inside the PDC. They help in protecting various circuits.
Step 3
There is a particular fuse rating specified for every fuse. If the circuit amperage exceeds the specified limit, then the element would melt.
Step 4
All the fuses are defined on the basis of amperage rating and the main motive is to give protection.
Step 5
The Fuse power is joined to the positive side of the battery.
Step 6
If you want to inspect the fuse, there is a tool supplied in the PDC with which you can carry out your inspection.
Step 7
The two terminals would be broken as soon as the fuse element is blown away, thus protecting the circuit from damaging.

A fuse is basically designed in such a way so that it can cut the flow of voltage if the current is flowing more than the specified limit. Most of the PDC’s are situated under the hood.
