Do you feel the need to revive your beloved car from a long sleep ?? Check the tips to start a car kept in storage and order auto parts at !

Did you come back after months and are not able to drive your SUV anymore? Before you start treating your car as stalled steel, here are some tips to revive it at last minute! – Brought to you by PartsAvatar Performance Auto Parts.

Whether its winter or your car has been sitting idle for ages, you can’t just dump it off if it won’t start! There are still some means to revive it. PartsAvatar has suggested some tips to wake your sleeping beauty!

In this article, we will not only discuss the ways to revive the stored car but also will provide some tips to properly store your car if you plan to leave your car unused for a considerable period.
But let’s first start with starting a stalled car!

Check the fluids and Engine oil

Car Engines and car engine components are made to run and to be run regularly. The longer they sit idle, the more they can develop problems for you! Old oil, antifreeze and gasoline don’t hold up well when sitting in an engine for months or even years.

Engine will need lubrication as oil hasn’t been running through it. If you notice any leakage from the coolant system it could mean a bad gasket, a corroded radiator fitting, a rotted hose or even broken water pump seals.
You can replace these auto parts at PartsAvatar and can easily find your desired product from our product catalogue easily.

Now talking about fluids, experts advise a car sitting idle for years require all fluids to be drained, bleed and flushed before refill.
For engine oil lubrication you can find assistance in a friend or a trusted mechanic because it requires disassembling of spark plugs etc. There might be chances of replacing car spark plugs in this situation, so give it a good visual check.

Inspect the Car Battery
If all the mechanical parts are working properly but you still can’t start your car, there might be issue with car’s electrical components. It is easiest to diagnose and fix a car battery.

When the battery is idle, the chemical reaction breaks down and causes it lose energy. If the battery remains unused for a longer period, the engine won’t start. You can still try recharging car battery by adding distilled water if the battery isn’t that old.
If it has been a long time since you last used or checked the battery, then you may have to spend money on a new one!

Also, bad or corroded ignition coils may prevent the engine from firing up. Replace spark plugs if they look corroded. You can turn on the engine until the oil you put into the cylinders lubricate the cylinder walls and to prime the oil and fuel pumps prior to ignition. Keep cranking the engine until the oil pressure reads normal.

Check for Vacuum Leaks
Vacuum leaks in the intake manifold can cause engine sensors to report incorrect readings to the ECU. When this happens, even minors leaks could keep your engine from running.

Engine can develop cracks if it sits idle for a long time. Too many cracks may cause severe problem. So it’s better to timely inspect the leaks and replace the vacuum hoses if needed. Better take advice of a professional.

Before you leave the garage
Once you start the car, just let it warm up. Don’t rev it. Check the transmission fluid level and leakage underneath the car, while it’s running.

You can turn off the engine and try checking hoses and belts for cracks. Check the car’s suspension system components like ball joints, bushings, leaks at shocks etc.
Give a thorough inspection to the brakes before leaving. Rotate each wheel by hand while your car is jacked up. Check the inflation of tires.

These are the basic things that you need to service, but still it is advised to call your mechanic if you can’t handle any major issue.
If you are planning to leave your car idle for a long time, then check out the tips to store it properly!

Park Indoors
It is said that aging is accelerated when the car is parked outside thanks to UV exposure, extremes of temperature and other environmental hazards. Modern paints are not prone to sun fading but heating and cooling of the interior will age it, leading to degradation of fabrics.

It is always safe to park your car indoors and use a quality cover to keep it safer and cleaner.

Don’t engage handbrake when you leave
Use a brick or a piece of wood to keep your car from rolling. Brake pads or drums can get stuck if you engage the handbrakes for a long period.

Remove the Spark plugs
It would be nice to remove the spark plugs before leaving your car idle. You can spray a little oil onto plug sockets before putting the plugs back again. This will keep your car’s spark plugs safe from rusting and moisture.

Fill the fuel tank
Fill the car with high quality fuel to keep the car fuel tank safe from moisture and rusting. Make sure to seal the tank properly before leaving.

Maintaining the battery

Remove the car battery before leaving. It would be good to fully charge it and top up the water level. Also you can avoid rusting by applying grease on the terminals and wires of battery. Store it in cool and dry place away from direct sunlight.

Change oil and oil filters
Old engine oil contains moisture, metal and sludge. It would be good to fill up your car with fresh oil and car oil filter and let it circulate by driving the car for few kilometres.

Keep the tires inflated
Proper inflation of tires prevents cracking of the sidewalls and flat spots. It’s better to properly inflate your car tires and check the valve caps for leaks before leaving.

Also you can jack up your car to avoid flat spots on tires. Use four jacks so that car doesn’t rest on wheels.

Make sure to clean the exterior thoroughly. This will help in keeping the moisture away.

So, in this way you can easily store your car. Still got questions? Contact

Is Your car ready to face the blizzard ?? Check out the tips to drive safely in snow @PartsAvatar Car Parts!!

If you have to head out in the snowstorm and ice, make sure you’ve prepared for rough driving!!- Brought to you by PartsAvatar Auto Body Parts.

Now that winter is upon us, driving in snowy and icy weather is inevitable. It isn’t suggested to roam in blizzards because it can be life threatening. But if you have got some urgent business then consider some tips that will help you to drive safely in such a harsh weather!!

The Checklist
Check the car oil filter, automotive air filter, car fuel filter, PCV and auto transmission components before heading out. Poorly running engine will use more gas so make sure to inspect. Check the coolant level and belts, hoses should be checked for tightness and wear and tear. Car battery is very important to work in winter weather.

Make sure car’ heater and defroster are in good condition. Have your car brakes checked for wear and check your car tires for remaining tread life.

Make sure your car’s windshield washer is topped up. Have enough petrol in your car before setting on off any journey.
Have an emergency kit, flashlight, shovel, extra batteries, boots and mittens, extra windshield washer fluid and antifreeze with you.

Make sure Tires are not under inflated
Refer to the manufacturer’s recommendations for proper inflation. As a rule, 10 degree drop in outside air temperature equals a 1Lb loss of pressure at each wheel. So make sure your tires are properly inflated especially in such a harsh weather.

Buy Winter Tires

Winter tires leverage a different rubber compound that stays softer and gripper in colder weather and its tread design cuts into the ice for better traction. All season tires are made to cover broad middle ground of driving conditions.

Switch to winter tires when you drive in snowy weather. All season tires are not effective in harsh winter so better stick with winter tires. If you live in a region where snowstorms and blizzards are a common occurrence then it’s time to invest in set of winter tires.

Trust 4WD or AWD
Driving in snow is not fun. In extra slippery conditions, having a vehicle with all wheel drive or four wheel drive can give you some traction. But don’t think they will be always effective and will prevent every accident on snowy roads. They will help you to detect wheel slippage during snowy condition and then redirecting the engine torque to the wheels with the best grip.

But all wheel drive adds extra weight to the vehicle which can be disadvantage if you slam on car brakes at an icy intersection. Braking is the great equalizer in the snow, so take it easy!

Stay Calm and don’t slam on brakes
Take it easy! Don’t slam on brakes as a sudden tug of the wheel or jab at the car brakes will result in a dangerous life threatening slide. Crucial part is how to stop.

If your car experience a spin, try to catch the spin by taking your foot off the gas – but not stomping the brakes- let the vehicle slow down itself. Do not make sudden steering movements as this could worsen the condition.

So, keep your mind cool, stay level headed! As the saying goes- slow and steady wins the race!!

Don’t rely on technologies

With the advanced safety technologies and snow modes introduced in cars, many folks believe that they don’t need to learn how to drive in snow because their car is going to take care of the situation.
But, when the flakes really start flying, these technologies can give a false sense of security because snow will end up covering sensors and cameras!

Don’t use cruise control because even roads that appear clear can have slippery spots. Slightest tap to deactivate it, could cause loss of control.

Better learn winter driving just don’t solely rely on technologies. GM’s On Star and Toyota’s Safety Connect are good technologies to consider. Owners can count on emergency services with these techs like automatic crash notification and one touch connection with human advisors.

Check the lights
You can take guarantee for your driving skills but what about the other on the road? Check your car’s headlights, taillights, turn signals and fog lights so that others can see you on the road!
If the snow starts falling quite thickly, put your fog lights on. This will help you to see and to be seen by other car drivers.

Maintain a reasonable speed
The faster it is snowing, the slower you should drive. Whether you are trying to come up to a stop or trying to reach your destination first, poor traction and road condition is definitely going to hinder your pace.

Allow more space between your vehicle and the one ahead of you to avoid any hazard. It’s best to accelerate slowly and keep your car in control.

Taking Hills
Hills can be challenging even if you are an expert in blizzard driving. Faced with the challenges in elevation, get momentum before you reach the hill and slow down when you reach the top.

Waiting until you are partway up to press on the gas is likely to spin your wheels. Pulling off a perfect winter hill climb lets you crest the hill with most of that extra momentum behind you allowing you to descend slowly and safely.

When you get Stuck
Stay in the vehicle, avoid over exertion, let the fresh air in and run the engine every 10 minutes but make sure that the exhaust pipe is free of snow.

If you get stuck, turn your steering wheel completely to one side as it may move your front wheels just enough to reach a less slippery patch and then gain enough traction to pull you out.

Another method is to rock your wheel back and forth from reverse to drive back thus building the momentum that you need to get going on the road.

If you can’t do anything to get out of the situation then don’t worry. Just turn on the dome lights at night. Don’t forget to move your hands and legs often and rub your feet and palms to keep you warm.
Extras to pack
You should know what to bring along in case you get stuck. Make sure you have blankets, hats, prepare first aid kits, jump cables, gloves, food and water for emergency.

Winter weather can wreck havoc on carpets and floor mats. But rubber mats if you are driving in such harsh condition.
Keep your phone charged for 24/7 communication.

So, stay calm and be smart in case you are stuck in Blizzard!!

Tired of spending money on Gas?? Increase Car’s MPG by replacing autoparts at Partsavatar Canada!

Replacing few worn out Auto parts can increase your car’s fuel economy. Save money and time by buying performance auto parts at Partsavatar Car parts!

It has been found that vehicles can burn up to 30 % more fuel if proper maintenance is not performed on regular basis. We all know and almost every car expert advises to maintain and check your car daily but we give it a deaf ear.

Gas prices are rising and they are also a major contributing factor in global warming. But you don’t have to sell your car or scrap it out to get a fuel efficient hybrid or electric car. All you need to do is to give a thorough check to your check and inspect if there is a worn auto part that is become hindrance in the way of better mileage. Just replace the auto parts and you will get your fuel economy back!

Let us read the important tips to increase car’s Mpg.

Regular maintenance of tires
You will use less gas if you keep your vehicle tuned and running like it should by regularly monitoring car’s tires.

Make sure that your tires are inflated properly otherwise not only the fuel economy will degrade but tires will also suffer premature wear. Please note that under inflated tires burn more fuel than normal ones. Install tire pressure monitoring system sensors which help in monitoring tire’s inflation level.

Inspect and replace the car's chassis and suspension parts for any damage sign or misalignment issue. Bent wheels, worn shocks, broken spring and axles often contribute in drive train drag.

So properly inflate tires and replace worn out chassis and suspension components for better mpg.

Take it Slow

A popular saying “Slow and steady wins the race” fits perfectly in fuel economy context. Continuously increasing and decreasing acceleration and braking heavily effects car’s fuel economy. Drive smoothly. By applying light throttle and avoiding heavy braking, you can reduce both fuel consumption and wear and tear. Driving techniques influence car’s fuel economy by 30 percent as per a study.

Automakers have introduced cruise control to maintain a constant speed on highways. So, use cruise control and drive slow and smooth with ease.
Trucks drivers should beware as trucks eat more gas at higher speeds.

Change octane if you can
Consult your owner manual for any information you need. If your owner’s manual says “regular oil” it means it. Putting unnecessarily premium or grade gas in car is utter waste of money. You don’t need to put high octane petrol or gas unless you are using a high compression engine.

It won’t have much impact on fuel economy but at least your money would be saved. So use a good brand gas suggested by your car’s manual with detergent additives to keep your system clean.

Replace mass air flow sensors
car's Mass air flow sensor measures the amount of air flow entering the engine and sends that information to the engine computer which regulates fuel injection, ignition system and transmission shifting. A faulty sensor will send incorrect signal to the computer and impacts fuel economy gravely.

Take it Easy on AC!

Air conditioning often makes your cars or trucks use more gas. So it is better to turn it off when you can.

Reduce the load on A/C by parking the car in the shade so that it doesn’t heat up. If you running an errand or making short trips then don’t put unnecessary load on A/c, let it idle wherever you can.

Replacing oxygen sensors
Oxygen sensors play pivotal role in conserving gas. Oxygen sensors of car monitor the exhaust flow, send data to engine computer and adjust fuel injection level. A faulty oxygen sensor can cause serious fuel economy issues so always know which factors are responsible for a faulty oxygen sensor.

In some cases, the car will seem to be just running fine with faulty oxygen sensor but the gas will be burning in the expensive catalytic converter instead of engine. Catalytic converter repair and replacement often empties wallet so don’t let it happen. Replacing car's oxygen sensor is much economical than catalytic converters.

Replacing Spark plugs
Spark plugs work in an incredible hostile environment. If you have got more than 30000 miles on yours, change them. The main function of spark plugs is to ignite air fuel mixture in engine combustion chamber. Increased voltage can cause the spark plugs to overload and fail, resulting in loss of fuel economy.

Engine will start running cleaner and more efficiently after replacement of spark plugs. So, always remember to  replace spark plugs of car to get better fuel mileage.

Air filter
Air filters protect the engine from ingesting foreign particles like dust and dirt present in the air. Clogged air filter reduces gas mileage especially on the cars that are more than 10 years old. Air filter replacement is an easy DIY job.
Replace your car’s air filter once a year to guarantee better gas mileage.

Chipping and remapping ECU
Engine performance can be increased by tuning up your car’s engine computer.  Call your technician and even though it is quite an expensive job, but believe me it makes wonder in contrast to car’s fuel economy and engine performance.

Extra Tips
You can definitely get your fuel economy back if you replace these above mentioned auto parts but there are some extra tips that will help you use every last drop of fuel you pour into your fuel tank.

1. If you are in traffic, it’s better to turn off the car engine. Idle engine gravely effects fuel economy.

2.  Plan your routes and avoid high traffic areas with repeated traffic snarls.

3. Lighten up the load you carry on your truck or car. We can all improve our car or truck’s fuel economy if we clear out some space in cargo area.

4. Try other public transports sometimes or share car with colleagues or friends.

5.  Use cruise control feature and save up to 6 percent of fuel on highways.

6. Clean corroded battery cables and reduce the labor an alternator have to do due to corroded condition of cables.

7. Driving in the highest gear possible is the without laboring engine is a fuel efficient way of driving.

8. Use manufacturer’s recommended motor oil and clean oil filter to improve your car’s gas mileage.

9. Revving the engine before you switch the engine off needlessly wastes the fuel and washes oil down from inside the cylinder walls.

10. Do net rest your left foot on brake pedal while driving. Slightest pressure puts mechanical drag on components wearing them down prematurely. This dragging also demands additional fuel usage to overcome the drag.

At Partsavatar auto parts , you can find all auto products you need to conserve gas mileage. Take a look!

Is your car's oil level low between oil changes. Check the causes and troubleshoot this problem @PartsAvatar.

Troubleshoot problems, causes and ways to improve oil consumption capacity of your car – Tips from PartsAvatar Auto Parts.

Oil consumption is one of the most alarming situations a car owner faces. If your car’s engine is working fine, then there is no need to add oil. New cars have the benefit of almost working on no oil. Mostly new engines consume less than half quart of oil in 3000 miles. But it’s a grave problem for older engines. Engine is either burning oil due to worn piston rings or the oil is making its escape by leaking due to bad gasket. This could cost you heavy expenses for repair. First we need to properly diagnose our problem.

In this article, you will get the answers to the questions like, how to determine whether the consumption is high or low? What is its cause? How to fix it?

How to determine whether the consumption is normal?
As the vehicles age, there fuel or oil consumption also increases due to wear. So how much is considered normal? Let us read it in detail.

Not every engine consumes same amount of oil because of their different specifications of engines. There is not a specific guideline for this issue.

BMW tells its customers that the normal consumption can be in the range of one quart within 2000 miles on a properly driven or serviced drive. Sometimes answers vary as different professionals and mechanics have varying views over oil consumption.
So as a uniform rule, engines with fewer than 50000 miles should not use much more than a quart of oil between oil changes. Engine might be showing the signs of leaks if it demands oil every 3000 miles. This could also point to other engine problems related to combustion, worn out piston rings or worn seals. On the hole you can expect increase in oil consumption after 75000 miles under normal conditions.

For heavy engines like V6 or V8, manufacturers permit oil consumption up to 1 liter per 1000 km. many newer engines use low viscosity oil. This increases the chances of oil consumption as the thin oil slips over worn out rings, seals and gaskets.

It is very important to timely check for engine oil level and leaks in the engine. Visit your mechanic as soon as you encounter any problem regarding oil consumption. If you suspect leaks, get the element fixed or replaced otherwise the repair cost would be quite expensive if the damage increases. Consumption also depends upon the type of driving we do on the road. If you practice moderate driving on the road the consumption might be 0.1L per 1000 miles.

What is causing increased oil consumption?

Check the following symptoms for increased oil consumption.

No Smoke from Exhaust
If there is no trace of smoke in the exhaust, there is high possibility that oil level is low.Check the following root causes in this case.

Check the PCV Valves and replace them if they are not working properly.
The engine might have been undergoing some internal mechanical problems so diagnose and fix them immediately.

If the engine is not burning the oil properly then there are chances that engine’s valve seals are damaged. Visit your mechanic and get the valve seals replaced.
There might be some issue with engine’s gasket. Sometimes damaged or worn gasket or seals may increase the oil consumption. Get the gaskets and seals checked and repaired at the same time by a professional.

Coolant appears Brownish and foamy
There are many symptoms here like the most common being dirtied coolant. There aren’t any leaks visible but still your vehicle is losing oil and the engine is consuming more oil than normal. If you detect these symptoms then it is better to check the following causes.

Blown head gasket and cracked cylinder head are on the top of the list. It’s better to start your inspection by examining the head gasket and cylinder heads. If you find them not working up to the mark, then it is the right time to get them replaced. Aftermarket auto head gaskets and cylinder head are quite reliable and increasingly purchased by most owners.

Sometimes a crack or leak in the oil line could cause the oil to slip into the cooling system and ruin it. In this case replace or your car's engine oil cooler.

Oil puddles under the car
If you notice puddles of oil under your car, there is probably a leak. The oil level is not proper and sometimes you may notice burning smell of oil when the engine is idle. Keep your engine filled with proper level of oil and check for the following reasons that could prompt these symptoms.

In this case, you might have to check and replace your engine’s damaged PCV valves if necessary. You can also visually inspect the engine’s gasket and seals for any sign of damage or wear. The oil might be escaping due to loosened oil filter. Check car's engine oil filter out and tighten it. If you feel the need of replacement, then go ahead as it is a very simple DIY job for you.

Engine uses more oil and there is some smoke in exhaust
There are many symptoms like the Engine is consuming more oil than normal. The oil level gets low and engine’s oil is being burnt due to the smoke in the exhaust. If you notice that your car engine is losing its capacity and power then you will have to check the following causes.

A clogged PCV valve can cause the oil get sucked through air intake into the engine. In this case, it is better to get car's PCV Valve replaced by a professional.
A worn piston ring is a danger to the engine as it allows the engine oil to slip past. Oil might get on the wrong side of the ring so call your mechanic immediately if you notice any damage and replace auto piston rings if necessary.

Similarly, you will need to check the valve seals, as they might also be allowing the oil to slip through where it should not. Get the Valve seals replaced by professional if you detect this issue.

How to fix it?
The very first step towards fixing is to always use good quality oil in your vehicle. It is very important to maintain the proper level of the engine oil. If you ever notice oil contamination or carbon deposits on the oil neck, replace the dirty oil with the new high quality one matching your engine’s standards.

As explained above, if you notice the symptom and after detecting the damaged parts, get them replaced by your mechanic. Not every replacement job is a DIY, so secure your vehicle in the hands of mechanic or a professional.

For oil leaks there are some products called stop oil leaks available at online auto parts stores, so you can also choose this method to stop the leak.

In the end Parts avatar advises to use premium quality oil and the most important thing is to check and maintain your car regularly for best performance. You can also check if you wish to shop for more Auto parts or accessories at cheap prices.
